"Hector Rail will make test runs in Sweden with two locomotives from Austrian State Railways. The locomotives are 1012.002 and 1142.588. The first tests will take place in mid Sweden at the end of October. The locomotives will leave Austria this evening (October 10).
The 1012 locomotives are made in only three units in 1996. The locomotives are modern AC locomotives with a maximum power of 6400 kW.
The 1142 locomotives are Austrian standard locomotives built between 1969 and 1977. They have been modernised during the 1990's. The maximum power is 4000 kW.

Some info regarding the test runs of ÖBB locomotives
During the test the locomotives will not be equipped with Swedish ATC system. Consequently there will be no ATC tests this time. The tests will focus on other issues regarding the interaction between the locomotives and the Swedish infrastructure. Next step in a possible purchase process will be ATC tests. The 1012 locomotives have engine rotors with an unsatisfying design. The problem is well known and the solution is well defined as well. Before they can be taken into reliable operation these rotors must be exchanged. (20051020)
